Been a busy week here. Lots of marine, On Road and Off Road engines going out this week. I can tell Nitro season is coming up soon 🙂
I will never get tired of seeing these 35+21s! They were the stuff when they came out many years ago and with some tweaking are still absolute animals!
Doing a little boat and on road this evening.
Nice to see a Picco .12 JL hitting my bench. Set some records with these units! Very wicked .12 when done right!
It's been a busy day here at AB Mods catching up on orders. Sending out some Marine and RC car Drag Spec engines today!
I don't post much on this page but had to share one of the few engines I modified today as its a rare accurance to see one of these come through these days. I haven't seen one of these Novarossi World 35+21 engines new in box on my work bench in a long time so had to share. This one was setup for a Drag Racing application and will be an animal without a doubt! I spent many years working with these Novarossi engines. A lot of time on the dyno and in field testing to develop some great and proven configurations for them!
I don't have a lot of fancy cut up engine parts to show off as that's not what makes the power on these nitro engines... It's all about the port timing configuration! But I will share a pic of the engine with the sleeve and head button off sitting pretty on a Novarossi pit towel 😉 #Novarossihistory
Well he set out to do it and he did it! So I would like to give a big congratulations to Michael Starrett for winning the D-14 points championship in Sport 40 class and also placing 2nd in B sport tunnel!
Mike has been a close friend of mine and ran my Modified engines with great success for many years and I look forward to many more!
Short video i put together of our 2018 12th Annual Wine Run!
Sneak peak Friday!
Of course no port timing #s will be given. But here is a little teaser pic of an OS B2102 engine that will shortly be back on its way to Sweden.
Knocked this out this morning. Another .46DD Marine.

Working on some more marine engines this evening.
AB Mods Spec Novarossi Hybrid .21 ready for sport 20 class!
Another AB Mods spec OS Outboard ready to go for B sport Tunnel class
I haven't put anything up on this page in awhile, but rest assured still in it and cutting engines! Especially here lately with boat racing season right around the corner!
Michael Starrett taking his AB Mods Powered OS.21 B sport Tunnel to a "cruise control" win at the 2017 Wine Run! Mike took the D-14 Championship last year with this boat and engine combination... He is the guy to beat in this class hands down! We are proud to have had Mike on board for well over 10 years running AB Mods Power. Can't ask for a better competitor, builder and friend.
Here are a few pics from the Wine Run at Hubers Winery. Our club "Propnuts" holds an annual race here. This was August 5th 2017. Had a great turnout with about 120 entries and some good racing!
Looks like its an O.S. Engine day here at AB Mods! Have marine and car applications going out the door today!
I would like to congratulate Preston Smith for winning the Pro Nitro class at this years No Limit World Finals with an AB Mods spec Picco engine! With nearly 600 entries this year that makes it the most entries to date!
Looking forward to testing the SPP .21 carbon pipe. Thanks again Ian Inverarity!
Thought i would share a short video of some dyno testing on an AB Mods Spec JX.21 off road buggy engine from back in 2010. It was basically an OS based engine. It used and OS case and shared some internals with changes of course.. and a DLC coated crankshaft. I have to say this is one of my favorite .21 buggy engines of all time! Long rod big bore engine as it had a .654 bore with a .630 stroke with a 1.18 rod length. On this pipe and 30% fuel combo peak HP comes in around 26...,000RPM at 1.7s hp range but by 41,000RPM which is what i spin it up to in this test, the engine will still maintain 1.5s HP! Made for an amazingly broad power curve with RPMs for days. Great for small tight tracks as it had great bottom end and was fuel efficient for heat racing... but really shined on large open tracks with long back straights where you could really put the power down in the upper RPM range! I wish they still produced this engine! I think this would be a great boat engine with a few simple changes!See More
